‘The Enemy’ by Charlie Higson

14th December 2017UncategorisedBy admin

“The Enemy” written by Charlie Higson is a thrilling book filled with comedy, action and emotion. Everyone over the age of 14 is diseased, more or less like zombies. Maxie and Waitrose gang team up with their rivals Blue and the Morrison’s gang to fight against the diseased adults.

As the two gangs venture across London trying to find shelter they come up against new threats. As the main leader Aaron is killed at the start Maxie takes over the gang. Akkie the most threatening strong character saves the group by using his fighting skills.

As they stumble upon a random messenger who claims that Buckingham Palace is safe that’s when Maxie gets excited. But as her hopes crumble into pieces as they lose more and more members.

This book keeps you gripped until the very last page. The characters keep you pulled in with their fighting skills and their attitude to the new diseased world. I feel like you can relate back to the kids backstories and how they felt. After reading “The Enemy” I’m sure you will want to go on and read the rest of the series.
