“One minute the teacher was talking about the civil war. And the next minute he was gone.”
Imagine a world without adults. It’s every kids dream to have no adults in the world, but it’s not until I read this book that I realised how much we need them. The doctors, vets, farmers are all adults and we can’t live without them. Sam Temple was going about his every day live when all the adults just disappeared, wiped off the face of the earth. His life would never be the same after that day. With there being no adults it doesn’t take long for chaos to start. They were in desperate need of a leader and they all looked up to Sam. Certain people grew jealous of him being the leader, they wanted to rule. You can do horrible things in anger. Violence and terror began when half of them turned on Sam. Words can’t even describe how much pain Sam had to go through in this book.
With all this stress and weirdness the children can’t take it anymore. If all this wasn’t bad enough some of the kids develop super natural powers that they have no control over. Such as teleportation and being able to read minds. It’s a thin line between life and death, who will cross it.
Michael Grant done a fantastic job of making a SI-FI book seem real. I feel he done this because the characters were extremely relatable. Although this is an amazing book it did take a while for me to finish it because it’s very emotional. But the second you finish it you will be begging for more. Luckily for you it’s a serious of 6 books to keep you entertained with the magical powers and mysterious life of Sam Temple. So why are you still sitting here, go read the book ‘Gone’.
