“We all fall. We all fall but thats not what matters. What matters is picking yourself up again.”- Todd Hewitt, The Ask And The Answer

In a world where men and animal’s thoughts can be heard as if spoken, without being said, two friends are torn apart and forced to take different sides in the biggest war New World has ever seen.  As they fight against the odds to find each other and overthrow the tyrant, they discover just how close they have become.

This book is fantastic as it is so gripping from the first page. The main characters, Todd Hewitt and Viola Eade, change as they mature from children into young adults.  They start to realise people are not all just black or white, evil or good, wicked or kind. That people make their choices to benefit others, even if it doesn’t seem that way at first glance.  They both experience different sides of the war and start to understand that peoples back stories can also blur the line between power and righteousness.
