Test Engineer Apprentice 

Job role: Test Engineer Apprentice with DXC Testing

 This role is for a Test Engineer Apprentice to work for an IT company in Erskine. The candidate will be trained in full and will seek advice in order to make decisions on testing requirements, where these testing requirements are defined on a scale of Easy, Medium, Complex. You will also have the ability to learn and understand automated Enterprise Software Delivery solutions such as Radia (HPCA), SCCM. 

 Roles and Responsibilities 

 You will build knowledge and understanding in the following areas:  

  • Execution of Impact Analysis 
  • Planning and estimating testing for new work 
  • Updating of planning and testing dates, and actual start and end dates 
  • Excellent analytical skills 
  • Test case development skills 
  • Test execution skills 
  • First line defect management 
  • Report writing 
  • Ability to follow account specific Testing Standards and Test Plans. 
  • First line issue management (meetings to resolve etc.) 
  • Defect reporting 
  • Understanding structured test methods and processes

Local Private Nursery PA2 Full Time employment opportunity. Modern Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage Applies. Applicants must be 16-19 years old. have a minimum of three National 4 qualifications (one of which must include English) or equivalent.

The job role would require you to be part of a proactive and responsible staff team. You will be involved in planning and setting up activities to help children with their learning, development & growth in a stimulating environment. You will also be responsible for the safety and day to day care of babies and young children where they are supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential. You will be expected to work towards a SVQ Level 3 Social Services Children and Young People with Carousel Training Centre.

On completion of the course, you will graduate as a fully qualified Childcare Practitioner. Skills: No experience is necessary, however good communication skills and a genuine desire to work with children are essential.

Maths Week Scotland – UWS Special Lecture

As part of Maths Week Scotland (11 – 17 September) the UWS is hosting a lecture by Prof. Adam McBride OBE.  The target audience is parents, pupils and teachers.

Maths Week Scotland is a brand new Making Maths Count initiative that aims to promote mathematics and numeracy in Scotland.  Mathematics is a vital life skill, not only for young learners, but for parents, educators, and the entire population of Scotland.  The University of the West of Scotland recognises this, and is delighted to support the Making Maths Count initiative by welcoming you to a special lecture, designed for all ages and all walks of life.

This lecture, entitled “Maths is BEST” is given by Professor Adam McBride, OBE, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and Past President of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society.  Professor McBride is a talented mathematician with over 40 years teaching experience, and a huge amount of infectious enthusiasm for the promotion of mathematics.   Adam has led teams of young mathematicians in competitions around the world, and was awarded an OBE for his services to mathematical education. He was even described as the “man who makes maths sexy”!

The last 40 years have been a new ” Golden Age ” for Mathematics. In the first part of his presentation Professor McBride shall discuss some of the exciting developments that have taken place and how Maths underpins so many things that we see or use every day in life.  In the second part, the emphasis will be on the beauty of Maths. There will be audience participation but don’t be afraid! Bring along pencil and paper (or the equivalent).

UWS invite you to join them, in the Brough Hall of the Paisley campus, on Tuesday 12th September, from 18.30 till 20.30. Refreshments will be available.

Modern Apprenticeship in Business Administration

Locations which may be available across Scotland include – Glasgow, Edinburgh, Paisley, Aberdeen, Inverness and Dundee. Other locations may become available throughout this recruitment exercise.

2 Year Fixed Term Appointment 

Full Time (part time opportunities may be available)

25 days paid holiday + public and privilege holidays

Starting Salary:   £18,113 per annum (full time equivalent)

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service is the sole prosecuting authority in Scotland and we are looking for committed and determined individuals to join us through the Modern Apprenticeship programme.

The Modern Apprenticeship is a two year work based programme.  Modern Apprentices will be normally appointed to Fiscal Officer positions where you will work and learn within the business to develop key core skills, as well as work towards an SVQ in Business Administration and a Certificate in Prosecution Practice.

It is expected that the Apprenticeships will commence on October/November 2017.

Main duties will generally include:

  • Information processing (using internal IT systems)
  • Word Processing and keyboard work
  • Dealing with telephone and public enquiries
  • Processing mail
  • Filing
  • Photocopying

 

Key Skills and Criteria Required

There are no age restrictions on our apprenticeship programme and selection will be competency based.

The minimum entry qualifications are 5 National Level 5’s at grades A-C (including English) or equivalent; or demonstrable experience of general office work.

Literacy and fluency in English are also essential requirements.

Essential Criteria:

  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Word
  • Candidates will also be required to provide examples relating to the core competencies for the role (please see the Note for Applicants for further information).

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, and Outlook
  • An understanding of the work of COPFS
  • A desire to work in the Criminal Justice Sector

Some positions may have a requirement for a clean driving license; further information will be available during the recruitment process.

Please note that COPFS is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974).  All convictions whether they are spent or not, will be considered.
